Help Stop Childhood Obesity
By Sarah Belden of SC County Health Services
Go For Health!, a county-wide collaborative of over 150 agencies addressing childhood obesity in Santa Cruz County, is co-sponsoring a School Wellness Policy Recognition award this fall (see reverse side for Nomination Form.) The goal of the Recognition is two-fold: to educate families, schools, and the community about the school wellness policies, and to recognize schools that have begun implementing their policies. Does YOUR school deserve recognition? Check out the nomination form!
Anyone is eligible to submit a nomination. We are partnering with the Family Resource Center network to promote the Recognition and collect nomination forms. The VWC is supporting the project by providing some copies of the nomination form and wellness policy summaries for distribution in your service area--Scotts Valley Unified and San Lorenzo Valley Unified serving nearly 6,000 students and their families. SLV Schools are renowned for their Life Labs and other creative endeavors, and deserve this recognition, so help make sure there are nominated!
