Be at the Fair—and be Ready for Anything

Disaster Planning Fair is a True Life Saver!

You’ll want to save Saturday, October 20th for an enlightening event – the second Disaster Preparedness Fair, an expanded version of the first, which took place last June and was also sponsored and financially supported by the VWC.

VWC Board member, Sherry Skold is our representative to the SLV Disaster Planning Committee. Sherry, working with Disaster Planning Committee coordinator, Copper Resnick, of Mountain Community Resources (336-3919), is excited by the increased interest and community support that has enabled the Fair to be expanded.  Those attending will see a fascinating overview of the various disasters impacting our community over the past fifty years – and how people responded to them – and will receive a magnet with evacuation routes for SLV residents.

Along with the VWC’s funds, the Committee is seeking a PG&E grant to cover the expenses of the Fair; PG&E also sends a representative to the Disaster Planning Committee meetings.
