Become a Redwood Forest Docent

by Melanie Kimbel of Sempervirens Fund

The redwood forests are inspiring places.  Docents are the special people who lead us there and tell us more than our eyes can see; they are our forest guides.  When you become a docent for the Sempervirens Fund, you can choose to lead interpretive hikes on Santa Cruz Mountains trails, work their booth at local festivals, help to plan and attend special events, and attend activities and enrichment training for docents every month.  The las basic training for new docents was on Saturday, August 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the San Lorenzo River Redwoods of Castle Rock State Park.  For information on future trainings, go to www.sempervirens.org and click on Special Events and Activities, or contact Melanie Kimbel at 650-968-4509.
