Events Yard Sale for scholarship funds: June EDUCATION NEWS Fall 2009 Scholarship Committee Selects Outstanding SLV Students After reviewing several applications, the VWC Scholarship Committee selected two outstanding students from SLV High School for awards of $500 each to support them in attending Cabrillo College in the fall. Annalise Andersen of Felton plans to study in preparation for transfer to a Physical Therapy program. Along the way, she plans to obtain her license in massage therapy. She impressed the committee because of her extensive community involvement. She has participated in beach cleanup for four years and river- roadside cleanup for two years. In addition, she played tennis and softball for the high school and served on the Peer Court. She was also President of the Multicultural Club and received certification from NCBI for leadership training. She maintained a 3.5 grade point average. Paige Combs of Santa Cruz plans to pursue a degree in English after transferring from Cabrillo. She is also interested in Philosophy and Psychology. She was active in the Art Club and volunteered for two years in the school library. She earned a 3.5 grade point average. We wish each of these outstanding students success in pursuing their higher education goals. Support for the Scholarship Fund is provided through donations and the annual Rummage Sale held in June each year.
