FLOW Warns Community About (Unnecessary) Well

In a recent email to supporters of local control over water resources in the SLV, Felton FLOW warned that Cal-Am wants to develop a new water supply in Felton by drilling a well at the Kirby Street treatment plant.  To do this they need a special exemption from the PUC and the county and state.  Reasons given are vague references to the drought.  “No long-term Felton residents (30 years or more) who we know have seen a need for additional water sources even during prolonged drought years.  Water conservation was sufficient,” according to FLOW supporters.

FLOW and SLV Water District plan to file a protest to Cal-Am’s petition to the PUC asking for exemption from the regulations.  If Cal-Am is exempted and drills another well, the ratepayers would pay for an unneeded addition to the system.  This move is a surprise to Felton residents who have long been led to believe that the current Felton system has more than enough water to meet its needs.

You can reach Felton FLOW by calling 335-3053 or via email, or visit their website.
